World of Airports is an airport management and air traffic control simulation from Flyboys Games, the studio that publishes it on Google Play under the Haug.land account. The game ships with 14 playable airports, and you always start at Innsbruck (INN), a small Alpine field with a short single runway. Innsbruck works as the tutorial airport because it handles only a few contracts at a time, so you learn turnaround order without traffic stacking up.

The jump matters because traffic density follows the real airport. At Innsbruck you might run two or three contracts at once. At Hong Kong or Dulles, contract counts climb until you are tracking unloading, fueling, and boarding on several aircraft in parallel, plus separate Cargo Stands alongside the passenger stands. Each airport also keeps its own Wollar balance, so progress at one field does not carry the money over to the next.
Turnaround operations: fueling, catering, boarding and pushback
The core loop is the ground turnaround, and this is where World of Airports goes deeper than most airport games. When an aircraft lands and reaches its assigned stand, you run a sequence of timed ground-handling tasks before it can leave again.
The standard turnaround chain runs in order:
- Unloading: passengers and cargo come off first, and larger aircraft hold more of both, so the timer scales with plane size.
- Refueling: the fuel truck connects before the aircraft can be cleared for the next leg.
- Catering: medium and large aircraft need fresh meals loaded, a step small regional jets often skip.
- Lavatory service: the tanks get emptied on bigger aircraft, an extra task that short turnarounds do not have.

The pressure comes from your ground crew size. Early on the crew is small, so two arrivals close together can overlap and cause late departures. You spend Wollars to add staff and upgrade their performance, which lets you service more planes at once. Miss the timers and contract satisfaction drops, which can end an airline contract early. You unlock planes for your fleet mainly with Silver Planes, the currency you earn from airport achievements. Liveries are bought with Silver or Gold Planes, but recoloring an existing livery costs nothing, so you can repaint your fleet freely.
Wollars, Silver Planes and Gold Planes: the three-currency economy
The economy runs on three separate currencies, and knowing what each one does decides how fast you progress.
- Wollars: the main working currency, earned by handling flights on time at your active airport. Wollars buy parking stands, ground-handling upgrades, and staff. They are airport-exclusive and cannot move between airports.
- Silver Planes (SP): an account-wide currency from completing airport-specific achievements. You spend SP to unlock new aircraft and liveries for your fleet.
- Gold Planes (GP): the premium currency, normally obtained through in-app purchases. GP can skip the passenger requirement to unlock the next airport, and can convert into Silver Planes or Wollars when needed.
Around this sits the contract system. Airlines sign contracts with your airport, and finishing the required flights with high satisfaction earns experience, contract upgrades, and contract extensions. Let satisfaction fall too low and the contract terminates, leaving you only a Silver Plane and some experience. A separate Keys system, earned by servicing flights on time, raises the cap on how many of your own scheduled flights can be active at once. The Gold Plane gate is the main grind wall: unlocking the bigger airports without spending GP can take a very long stretch of play, a point raised often on the official World of Airports forum.
Multiplayer flights and streaks with other players
World of Airports is built around a live multiplayer layer, not just solo management. Once you own aircraft, you can send them to the airports of other real players instead of running them only on bot routes.
You connect in one of two ways. You can type the exact username of a friend to link directly, or you can leave it open and wait in a queue to be matched with anyone online. While two players stay connected and keep exchanging flights, a streak builds up. Pass enough turnarounds in a row and the streak pays out Silver Planes, which feeds straight back into unlocking more aircraft. If either side drops the streak, it resets to zero, so the reward favors regular play with the same partner.
This player-to-player loop also changes the contract map. Airports show pin icons: a blue pin marks an airport open for a player contract, a gray pin marks a bot contract, and your departure airport sits under a dark blue pin. Player contracts ignore the runway-distance limit that caps bot contracts, so a willing partner lets you route flights that bots would refuse. Because multiplayer depends on active connections with other people, the matchmaking works best when more players are online at the same time.
